In the winter of 2016, Géolocation performed an outstanding bathymetric project in a river with ice condition. The project consisted in a topographic study for the replacement of two water main west of the Accalmie Bridge, Central Boulevard, Quebec city. The construction of the new line under the river bottom, using directional drilling, needed a bathymetric survey to generate the profile of the river bottom. The condition of the river required the installation of cables that were stretched across the river and the use of an inflatable craft for the safety of the personnel. The positioning was performed by a precise GPS method. The cross sections were used to determine the exact topography of the river bottom.
