Following the flooding in the greater Montréal in May 2017, the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) set up a project to update the annual flood risk mapping. This included the acquisition of a topographic lidar in 2018. After this first acquisition of lidar data, the CMM began a hydraulic and hydrological modeling exercise of the territory. This exercise demonstrated that the data available for these analyses needed to be optimized to achieve the desired precision and accuracy.
In this context, Géolocation won the mandate from the Direction générale de l’information géospatiale to carry out airborne laser surveys (lidar) at a density of 15 pts/m² in Fall 2023 over the entire CMM’s territory. This mandate was completed in Spring 2024 and included the classification of data, including ground and buildings.
This project enabled us to keep the data up to date so that it adequately reflects the changes in the territory.
The project was successfully completed to the satisfaction of the customer.
