Géolocation will be involved over the next three years to carry out survey work related to these two leading projects. Upon request, we will realize land surveying, engineering surveys, bathymetric work or any other specific activities. This will definitely be a major turning point for Quebec City and nearby towns. Once again, our solid and multidisciplinary expertise, called upon on several occasions, will be tremendously helpful. Indeed, the data collection, processing and analysis will be key information for decision-making, planning and design of future works.

Land surveyor’s role

As a measurement and land expert, he has a prominent role in such large-scale projects. For example, he ensures immediate supervision of the technical resources involved in the project. He also makes sure a robust reference framework is clearly established for all the professionals selected by the client. Finally he guarantees the quality of the services and the consistency of the various datasets available to designers and managers.

Transports Quebec mission

As a government institution, Transports Quebec’s mission is to ensure the sustainable mobility of people and goods throughout the territory. This is possible thanks to efficient and safe transportation systems that contribute to the development of the province. Thus, maintenance and creation of new highways is an important issue for the future of our communities. The preliminary studies then make it possible to assess costs and predict the impact on traffic, safety and the environment.

Current situation

The Île d’Orléans bridge is part of the Capitale-Nationale landscape since its construction in 1935. A study conducted in 2017 plans to replace it by 2027 with a cable-stayed bridge parallel to the existing one. And as far as the 3rd link between Quebec and Lévis is concerned, it is currently the subject in under study. Up to date, a tunnel of 9 km long with the approaches would prevail. It would be located between highway 40, on the Quebec side, and highway 20, around route Lallemand in Lévis.

Géolocation is very proud to be part of the team selected by Transports Quebec as an expert in these preliminary studies. There is no doubt that our team of qualified land surveyors, geomatics professionals and experienced technicians will take up this new challenge.
