The Direction des inventaires forestiers (DIF) is mandated to provide data on forest ecosystems that support the management of the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, by aiming to achieve enhancing, use and protection of forest resources objectives.
As part of this mandate, Geolocation was mandated to carry out LiDAR surveys, data processing and classification as well as simultaneous digital aerial photography.
This mandate allowed the client to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of combining in the same overflight the acquisition of data from two separate sensors: aerial view and LiDAR surveying. Specific flight parameters were used to meet the needs of the DIF. Overall, this project was very successful and made it possible to obtain LiDAR and photogrammetric coverage of a 5000 km² area within the same data acquisition period.
