VALIDATION AND ENHANCEMENT OF BUILDING IMPRESSIONS ALONG THE SAINT-LAWRENCE RIVER

As part of a governmental project, building impressions data (polygons representing the impression of the roof) was automatically extracted in vector format from LIDAR data dating from 2018. The objective of the mandate was to correct the cartographic issues that this approach had generated, using a traditional stereo digitization capture method.

For a first mandate of this type granted, the Department of Energy and Natural Resources requested the validation and adjustment of the extracted building impressions, among others by adjustments, additions or removals when required. Indeed, the geometries must correspond to the roofs of the buildings.

This project represented a major challenge for the Geolocation team given to the size of the territory and the different data sets with which we had to deal. Several problematic cases raised during the mandate, which also required adjustments to realization standards. In the end, the mandate was completed on time and to the full satisfaction of the client.
